activities
The group approached the theatrical language through improvisational theater techniques proposed by the director of the group, Prof.essa Allera Longo Mariuccia that thirty years of experience in the field of Theatre in Education and specializes in teaching boys disabilities.
the game path is merged with a theatrical show "I was a soldier, you the dancer ..." The show was repeated four times: in Montjovet for prime time, to Aosta for Regional Day of Volunteers, in Saint Vincent in the Carnival of the small, but most of all.
Chatillon during the meeting "at the theater for a different type of theater" (March 19, 2008).
The conference, planned by the Association, was an important event that brought together several organizations: Lions Club Cervino, University of Valle d'Aosta, City of Saint Vincent, City of Montjovet, Library of Saint Vincent, Mount Mountain Community Cervino, and is sponsored by the Departments of Education and Culture and Health, Health and Social Police of the Region Valle d'Aosta
activity was appreciated and the knowledge acquired was exported.
In fact some of our educators, at the direct request, they run courses in theater built in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in the area and also in some CEA and Cooperatives. The professed
Allera, in collaboration with production designer, Professor Pernet Elvis, held for three years a Theatre Workshop (Theatre in the school) at the Faculty of Education at the University of Valle d'Aosta.
Since 2008 the group collaborated with the Association in Aosta Wandering: a proposal for a theater built during that involves young people with disabilities and college students. The intent is to stimulate the creation of a group similar to Montjovet.
analysis of the socio-territorial question the project
The project targets young people of the City of Montjovet and surrounding towns.
Montjovet is a country in the middle of the Valley that focuses on the big center Verrès and is part of the Montana 's Evançon. Its characteristics are similar to those of the basin countries Verrès. It 's a town made up of many small villages scattered around the mountains, inhabited mostly by families from the area and linked to the region, villages that have suffered in the past and depopulation, but it recently has been repopulated by new families suffer, however, of 'weakening the social fabric of the original, in its rhythms, its relations, its values. The country suffers also influence the industrial center of Verrès which has drawn many immigrants for job opportunities it offers, in recent years, these are from outside the Community.
In this context, many young people experience cultural conflicts, or situations of isolation and disorientation are easy prey to the sirens of individualism and consumerism
The plight of disabled children is even more difficult for even the prejudices which affect them. In fact, they can find a post office within the school context or in care facilities or courses specifically geared to them, but none of them can count on a group of peers with whom to spend leisure time in the place where they live. The situation worsens when children with disabilities enter into his school and facing a job market still demanding evidence of recession and to those benefits. Often do not find prospects for social integration.
So the disabled children have as a reference to prevailing parents and educators, in an age where the comparison with peers is essential for a balanced social maturity. The integrated
Theatre Workshop wanted to respond to these needs:
one hand the need of disabled children to have friends in the area where they live, to share leisure activities and interests (theater) and who is to be regarded as people need other
children "normal" practice of the territory of their interest and find new friends in a place where the values \u200b\u200bof solidarity, respect, listening to people are the center of the activity, in a relaxed and fun.
To these we add the need for educators and teachers to find new strategies to facilitate expressive and communicative abilities of people with disabilities and to encourage their inclusion in the reference group.
The Theatre Workshop Integrated responded positively to these needs with the activities described above, as can be seen in the review reports attached.
The birth of the Association "The boys of the art" meets the need to consolidate the experience and give a perspective of continuity in the future.
The new situation creates a real and concrete opportunities for interaction between local authorities and voluntary organizations in providing services to the territory. Moreover
'Association can involve many more people of the territory in the implementation of the integration of young people.
In this phase, the group gave the new requirements:
- depth of skills and expressive skills;
- renewal of the contents of improvisation theater (requirement to produce a new show);
- Educational and Teaching ( from teachers and educators);
- Opening and sharing with the territory of the routes and products;
- exchange of experiences with other organizations working in the theater built in Italy and abroad.
Contents and methods used for establishing the content and methods of each meeting is a working diary kept by the director
The first year was devoted to forming a close-knit group and provide the basic tools of expression.
In the second year of operation has been set up the play "I was the soldier and you're the dancer"
In the third year of the show was produced and replicated at the same time he began to collect materials for the construction of the new theater to Alice.
Every encounter lasting two hours consists of: • A
time host of the defendants (with snack)
· heating and breathing exercises
· sequences of exercises and games aimed at improvising in pairs or groups
· Final greetings containing suggestions on interpersonal dynamics and feelings
• In case of need we reserve a moment of collective reflection on possible relationship problems
For the creation of a theatrical director and designer have designed a route to propose to the "actors" . In fact, do not start from a play, but from a literary tale that seems interesting problems that suggests.
But many disabled children are struggling to understand and to imagine situations not directly related to their experience and the use of the printed image or design is not always a solution. Also built with hard action sequences in the abstract and do not include the concepts involved.
So the story is divided into scenes and the scenes are put into practice in situations. So
"to pretend" they encounter realistic or fantastic situations in which they can better understand the facts and events, made from concrete objects and actions and relations can experience without much risk. Inspired by the game, they can also express emotions, thoughts, personal opinions and educators - players can communicate with them in a particularly effective way.
The use of theatrical techniques can give concrete proposals to situations while remaining within the symbol.
Using techniques of improvisational theater director requires the actors to interact spontaneously with the situations that the kids choices, and then directly include live better.
addition avoids assigning characters and accepts all the proposals will make it functional to the story. All are immersed in history and made part, incorporating the actions, but also helping to revive it with personal experiences, often very exciting.
The script is written so theatrical As after the improvisations.
theatrical techniques used come from the experience of the theater of the boys, already theatrical animation, and are designed to enhance the resources of each spontaneous expressive use of different channels: voice, gesture, image, musicality ....
If you try to exploit the best resources of each and use the wide range of languages \u200b\u200bthat the theater offers, you can always cut to the proper roles of all abilities.
The more the actors have a cognitive delay, the more it hard to play someone other than themselves, so it is important that the characters are sewn on and invented in adherence to certain characteristics of their personalità, che essi evidenziano reagendo in modo spontaneo..
La ripetizione sistematica delle scene inventate dai ragazzi stessi easier and facilitates the storage of sequences that usually, at the end of the course is satisfactory. In more difficult cases it is sufficient to remember that kids know the situation and respond appropriately to stimuli by educators. In fact in the action stage
children with disabilities are always encouraged and supported by a companion. The ratio of teachers / students "able-bodied and disabled children allows us to make the actors work in pairs. In our performance referents change depending on the scenes, this complicates a bit 'overall organization, but, in our view, supports the inclusion of our friends who do not are forced to deal with a steady partner and enhance their relationship skills. During these three years, however, children with disabilities have found reference of educators who help them in times of insecurity, but are quiet when couples tend to do rotations.
The performance last year 's has other original features: All players participate in all the scenes that have choirs, there are other players that obscure.
All actors play different characters in each scene and are characterized by the costumes / hats camouflage them.
This choice is a bit 'risky for understanding by the public, but it was very funny for the participants and encouraged the group cohesion.
So in the first months of activity are collected and organized in the improvised scenes, and specifying the script and the music choices are the same time the designer makes or proposes to make the group's props and costumes that he designed the costume sew. Following the actors try to fix the improvisations and specify the timing and pace of the show with the help of the director, establishing with precision movements, costume changes, making sure never to leave only the disabled children in the different scenes .
But why a show function, that captures emotions and the audience, the other two elements are essential:
a pace that is only achieved by trying, in our case, many times, but for a short time;
a strong energy that emerges when the actors are very involved in acting.
latter is the most important element, it is not difficult to perceive children with disabilities who, if they are good in a situation and if you enjoy, in a disarmingly communicate their emotions and become easily empathize with those who them is to listen.
system
project evaluation to assess the success of the project we take into account mainly the following criteria:
- the number of members at the same
- Satisfaction participants regarding the contents
- the outcome of the play
Evaluation indicators
Attendance Records Compilation
thoughts and impressions at the end of every meeting of educators
Regular meetings Regular meetings in which it is presented gradually 's outcome of the working parents
Regular reporting of verification drawn up with contributions from the young participants
number of spectators at performances of the show
Rating explicitly expressed by viewers
The attendance register shows that the group has expanded and strengthened with the passage Time: We started in 20 and now we are in 27 buildings. The rotations were minimal and disabled children, despite two withdrawals have increased (from 7 to 10).
One difficulty is that almost all children and volunteers in our group are very busy between school, work and various courses, making it virtually impossible to expect the full frequency of all. This involves in setting the shows in delays and the need for actors in the role of wild card to replace the absent. The device creates a bit 'but there is the advantage of confusion that can interpret many more parts. In any case in the important moments (rehearsals, performances) the group is always full.
The result that seems most significant can be summarized in the words of a guy early in the second year: "Last year the children with disabilities made me a bit 'impression, now I no longer feel the difference."
fact have created emotional ties and the boys "normal" feel affected by the ability to express affection for their friends.
also say that parents are happy, some are just impatient to arrive on Friday. The reports show
other data
experience has clearly shown the potential of every member of the group and gave everyone the awareness of possessing instruments of expression and inventiveness in a perception of equality;
it stimulated self-knowledge and personality causing a general increase in self-esteem
also created a relapse in the interpersonal skills of all members, especially our young people with disabilities who, as we know, for physical reasons or cognitive, not always able to communicate adequately
The show was repeated four times and also offered classes in elementary and middle schools. Whenever the public, always numerous, welcomed him with great emotion and enthusiasm. This result increased the confidence and determination of all.
The opportunities for reflection on the meaning of our experience there. A student
high school social maturity has led to the 2007/2008 school year a paper on the relationship between art and disability
A student of Education is preparing a thesis on the subject.
Future Plans
Purpose
In the near future (year 2009/2010) you want to responding in part to the needs of the group that refers to the Association "The boys of the art".
- The need for renewal of the contents: "The boys .." are preparing a new show on the theme of the passage between childhood and adulthood from suggestions given by the books of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and "Alice in the mirror."
- In need of training. We thought of the training sessions run by experts, complemented by theatrical
In particular, it provides:
autumn of 2009 a Stage of art therapy administered by Dr. Miranda Fanny followed by the play "Valise de je (ux)"
in spring 2010 a stage "INTRODUCTORY THEATRE" led the company's Theatre of Aosta Unstable followed by the show "Mimondi"
the show "Alice ..."
The staging of the show from the texts of Lewis Carroll has already begun in Spring 2009. It provides a methodology similar to that described for "The Soldier ....". The town of
Montjovet spoke with a contribution to the scene.
Stages
The group aims to find new resources, less obvious, inventive and communicative possibilities within voiced so far ..
That feels the need to deal with new techniques proposed by theater professionals, which may indicate pathways that will be filtered by educators and adapted for theater and the possibilities of the boys.
Workshops are aimed in particular to all workshop participants Montjovet theater, but most educators or future educators.
Workshops, in the event of vacancies, will be open to social educators or teachers or students of the Faculty of Education and Training interested in our research.
The shows in the evening, are addressed to the interns, but also to members of the theater workshop that could not attend the course, the entire population of the territory and to all who are interested in the social theater.
In fact, the show becomes a time for further training because they present the outcome of the work of professionals with whom he shared an artistic career professionals who express the most out of that path.
is also a time of sharing and openness to the territory of the topics covered in the internship. We
decided to rely mainly on experts Aosta because it seems important to build local skills and provide for any continuity in the collaboration.
Experts have different skills, but consistent with our poetic method of improvisation theater, choral recitation and exploitation of the weak or timid. We think that we can provide tools that complement our training:
In particular, Dr. Fanny Fey Miranda, originally from Valle d'Aosta, is an 'art therapist diploma in animation and socio-cultural graduate studies in theater at' University Michel de Montagne - Bordeaux III - France, deals with the relationship between art therapy and art and expression, in situations of suffering and discomfort. It will help us to deepen
paths with respect to interpersonal relationships play in the activity, the discovery and use of body and voice, the use of mediators to be aware of their artistic skills and help to create an art project. Unstable
Theatre of Aosta is a young company that organizes theater sign. E 'directed by Marco Chenevier and is based in Villeneuve and Rome. The components have a strong background in the school of Jacques Lecop and experience of classes and workshops with disabled children.
Topics covered will include: sign language, play the chorus, the performance of sheet music rhythm.
The training project has been forwarded to head of Health, Health and Social Policy and its implementation depends on whether a provision of regional financing.

The reports show
other data
experience has clearly shown the potential of every member of the group and gave everyone the awareness of possessing instruments of expression and inventiveness in a perception of equality;
it stimulated self-knowledge and personality causing a general increase in self-esteem
also created a relapse in the interpersonal skills of all members, especially our young people with disabilities who, as we know, for physical reasons or cognitive, not always able to communicate adequately
