Disability: a gift for teaching and learning every day.
My name is Jade, I'm 23 years old, study psychology and I have spastic quadriplegia due to lack of oxygen at birth. I love to tell you about me, I love talking to young people of all that the coach has given me, to what has allowed me to grow and mature. I like to call the coach as a means by which the journey in life, led by fellow adventurers: this means of transport is therefore to be valued at 100%! Etymologically the term means not able, if we reflect, then each of us is disabled in one area (some in history, who in mathematics, some in Italian, some in dance, who in sports, etc.). Yes, because every person, willingly or unwillingly, has limitations and resources, and these faces every day of his life. All that we are allows us to be unique special and unique. Just be ready to receive it, always trying to obtain the maximum from each experience and know how to take the positive things he gives us.
I believe that every life event to happen in order to make human beings real men. Yes, each advances towards destiny ... as it stands. From what has been said, I think it's clear my thinking on this subject on which, unfortunately, is struggling a little (I have not clear the reason for this), though aware of the existence of different theories about it: the most seem to be popular "is an emotive subject", "requires some preparation," not I'm concerned "or" too much talking will not change anything "... Personally, I consider disability a natural topic, like the other one ... just believe that every human being has a history of its own life, which is very important to tell: it is an opportunity for enrichment for everyone, so do not be afraid to show what we are, what sets us apart from other individuals. Diversity is the prerogative of all humanity, there is only one man in the world like any other ... fortunately. What would the world be boring! It is not just my words: you can see every day walking the streets of every city in the fact that everyone, but really we are all different ... individual differences are found for example in the way of dressing, thinking, of thinking about life ... all also have physical differences (color of eyes or hair) and psychological (personality traits, etc.). In short, I would say ... the world is beautiful because it is different! Basically, I conceive disability (whether physical, mental or sensory) as one of the many differences that exist in nature. I argue that the normally consists really in diversity (although this claim is empirically demonstrable): If it were not so pathetically we would all be cloned.
Why be afraid of the wheels then? Fortunately I know many people without this senseless fear, people call me by name and I do not label it unnecessarily, people sharing the chair with me, people that just look into the face of life, people who do not pity me (because they have no reason ), but not all behave like the fellow adventure ... unfortunately ... I've known. So, my first goal is to address the speeches. Yes, because you do not know what can reasonably be scared, and this is natural. Unfortunately there are still too many people who do not know the disability and therefore they are distant. Obviously, you do not know what it is not clear and we have disabled people tell us, the word is perhaps the means + effective to eliminate the many stereotypes that then cause the injury, that is an opinion in advance. You judge without even knowing it .... based on what? Well, according to the stereotypes the world has created around you .... This is the conformism: Yeah, and it is fashionable! Conformism makes sense? It makes sense to be the unthinking lemmings who follow only the mass? The stereotypes are there until they are modified by concrete actions.
A disabled person does not come out ... if you do not have any friends. A disabled person can not have a history with a normal person. ... If this is not convinced that the heart is the only part of the body completely independent for all. A disabled person does not drink or smoke. ... If others are convinced (without plausible reasons, however) that can not. A disabled person does not go where there are steps ... if someone does not act as an elevator man.
I firmly believe that the limits are real in the mind and the real irreversible handicap that creates obstacles is ignorance. Modern society in recent years has proved unnecessary to invent new words carefully: a disabled, handicapped, etc.. There ... ... I hate them all politically correct term (no one has the power to determine what is appropriate or not to situations). Cabbages, instead of so many problems on how to call people (all at birth we received a proper name, aims to identify clearly and precise identity), because we do not act with concrete actions, such as removing architectural barriers (the law provides that dates back to 1986 and 2009 has not yet met!) and psychological (looking at the person sitting straight in the eye ?). The coach is an indispensable part of us, certainly has a role in shaping the character that is structured more or less strong depending on the case (I always say that I would not be without my Gina Jade, my wheelchair is one of ... many aspects of myself, just like eye color), but not all! There's more: feelings, thoughts, ideals, etc.., To be discovered. If you stop only alle ruote si perde molto!
Altra assurdità: i disabili sono tutti speciali. Non si può generalizzare: siamo persone e come tali possiamo risultare a qualcuno simpatiche ad altri meno…Non c’è nulla di male! Solo che la gente pensa: “Già è sfortunato… almeno diciamogli che è speciale”.
Ma avete mai pensato ai vantaggi della disabilita?
1. chiedere aiuto per spingere è un modo per attaccar bottone;
2. se sei strabica come me e lo guardi potrai sempre negare…;
3. farsi portare in braccio nelle scale è tutta tattica;
4. a volte una carrozza per due può bastare…
5. se vai in un luogo affollato non avrai ever the problem of not finding a seat: you have arranged in advance and the chair you've got it!
